At the beach

Well its no Maui but I'm sitting on the beach here in Bandon. Pretty nice spot here, and a nice day for caching. I found 19 on the day and have a bunch planned for tomorrow.

Memorial Day

Early this morning I took off to find a new cache in town called Starlite Water. I took the hardest path in imaginable mainly because I was afraid that the road path lead to private property (lots of new very expensive houses up here.) Anyway I made it and was tired and out of breath... at least I was FTF. No FTF prize or certificate though. After that I went to a picnic and to watch the Boatnic Hydroplane Race.

Tomorrow I'm going over to the coast for a few hundred caches... haha. Should be fun as long as the weather cooperates.

New Cache

I hid a new cache today called Washington Monument Quarry. It has yet to be approved as of this post but it should be available soon. This is probably the hardest to reach cache I have ever placed. It is a pretty good up hill hike on a gated road just outside of Williams. Once you get there it is easy enough to find. Because it is hard and remote I doubt it will get many visitors... but it should get at least one because I placed one of my coins there :)

Coastal

I've been neglecting my blog again... I'm a bad boy.

Last night was some majore storm with some 7000 recorded lighting strikes and rain so hard it kept everyone awake all night... that is everyone but me. I slept right through it. Heard it start raining and that was it.

It was pretty cold today compared to the 90 degree days we'd been having. I have all week off of work so I plan to go to the coast on Tuesday... I'm hoping for good weather. Uncle Duck hid some 6 new caches over in Bandon... that will give me a lot to do.

Woohoo!

Blazers got pick #3 :) which I am pretty happy with. I think chances are good that they trade the pick... we'll see. Its still nice that they were able to move up. It give the Blazers a whole lot of options.

The Lottery

Tonight is the NBA Draft Lottery it will be at about 5:30 during halftime of todays playoff game. Portland has an 8.8% chance at pick #1... very roughly Portland's odds look like this

28% for pick in the top 3
28% chance for pick #5
41% chance for pick #6
3% chance for pick #7 (8 is posable, but only likely if the draft is rigged)

I'll give a blog update as soon as its announced. Until then you can play with this Draft Lottery simulator... its a lot of fun.

Quiet

It is now 1 day until the NBA Draft Lottery.

It is also a time of peace and quiet in the valley as Lazyboy takes an extended trip to Maui. I've heard the natives have a name for him "Huna mea makamae wahine ho'okamakama" which is roughly equivelent to "cache-whore".

One more

I tacked on one more FTF today. Drdan's newest cache The Old Mill Place. Parking was scarce so we drove by a time or two and drew some odd looks from a young hitchhiker walking down the street... had to wait for her to pass then we stoped and searched... I tried to make it hard and decided to wade through some briars... only drew a little bit of blood by the time I spotted the cache. Pretty neat spot that you'd probably never spot if you weren't looking.

It is now 2 days until the NBA Draft Lottery.

Cache-aholic

BIGGIEET_AL has passed me up in cache finds and passed the 700 finds mark. I was about 10 ahead last week and a trip to KFalls put him over the top... that is a lot of caches in a week. I've been ahead of them for a long time... so I was shocked to see my lead shrink so much, but I've been slow lately... it now gives me a goal to catch back up. Kelly and Tracy were the first geocachers I ever met when I ran into them at Postage Paid which was my 18th find. I'm going to have to plan my own trip to Klamath.

It is now 3 days until the NBA Draft Lottery.

Review

Without giving away any of the movie... like Anakan turning to the darkside and becoming Darth Vader... My review goes something like this:

After episodes 1 & 2 my expectations were low... so it wasn't hard for the movie to exceed them. Lots of lightsaber duels... which means less talking... which means a better movie. I wouldn't take young children... this is a pretty dark film. The movie was almost 2 1/2 hours long, but still seemed rushed at times. You know what happens in the end and therefore the surprise element is lost. Overall if you've stomached the last two you'll want to see this one.

To celebrate Episode 3 I hid a new cache, May the Force be with you. It has even been approved and found already.

It is now 4 days until the NBA Draft Lottery.

The Day Has Come!!!!

It is now the day to watch Star Wars Episode 3 :)

It is now 5 days until the NBA Draft Lottery.

At 6pm today I will be watching Star Wars Episode 3. The long wait is just about over. I asked and got permision to leave work and go see it... I think I can wait... but just in case I can go see it if I like :)

I am house sitting again tonight and tomorrow so I'll have dial up internet... any movie review might have to wait for tomorrow's blog entry.

One Day!!!

It is now one day until Star Wars Episode 3

It is now 6 days until the NBA Draft Lottery

In about 33 hours I will be sitting and watching Star Wars :) Its been a long six years since episode 1. In that time I graduated from OSU, had 2 jobs, geocaching was invented, World Trade centers were attacked, Afghanistan was invaded, Iraq was invaded

As for geocaching... I don't have anything new. Might find some caches this weekend depending on the weather... but that is all after Star Wars

Waiting sucks...

It is now 2 days until Star Wars Episode 3

It is now one week until the NBA Draft Lottery

Well here I sit at work just waiting. In about 54 hours and 20 minutes plus previews I will be watching Star Wars Episode 3... the wait is killing me. Its not near as bad as the wait for Episode 1, but its still bad. Much like Episode 1 it can probably never really live up to my expectations.

The NBA Draft Lottery is next Tuesday and for only the second time ever the Blazers will be part of the lottery... this year the Blazers will have a draft pick between 1-8 (but not pick #4). There is no solid #1 player in the draft this year like Tim Duncan or LeBron James. Would still be nice to have one of the top 3 picks. We'll see on Tuesday.

6 months 6 events... wow!

It is now 3 days until Star Wars Episode 3.

I noticed today the next pizza event is up... Pizza XXVIII. So far 2005 has had some pretty fun events so I imagine this will be another good one.

My federal jury duty was suppose to be today but it was postponed to August 3rd, which is my birthday... what a birthday gift huh? Federal Jury duty is very different they only call you for one trial. Now I have to hope and pray that they reach a plea bargain and I don't have to go.

Sunday, May 15, 2005

It is now 4 days until Star Wars Episode 3. I bought my tickets today for Thursday 6:05 pm at Southgate Cinema in GP.

Found a few caches this weekend

Ketch-Up if you can
Top this cache #4, Crest of the hill
The Rock Family Re-Union, Cache
Two Towers Two

Two Towers 2 was missing... but I caught JJ at home and forced him to go check on it :) I'm sure it will be replaced soon but he said I could log it.

Count Down...

It is now 6 days until Star Wars episode 3

So last night was poker night. Last time I lost $7 so this time I practiced a little. More or less before the last game I had seen 7-card and Texas Hold'em played, but I had never played myself. I was also introduced to Omaha Hi/Lo and 7 Card Hi/Lo. So this time I had a much better understanding of each game. So I bought in at $30 and never had to buy again... cashed out $107 for a winnings of $77... so I got my $7 back :) plus a little extra. I was much more aggresive in my betting and while I lost a few rough hands I did well in the hands I won.

I wonder if a friendly geo-poker event would go over... no money, but maybe a prize of some kind for 1rst, 2nd, and 3rd. It might be fun...

Well Saturday looks like a nice day so I should get off my butt and find some caches. I'll pull up my last pq and see where the best collection of caches is.

Killing time

It is now one week until Star Wars episode 3.

Tonight is also poker night... I'll see if I can't get my $7 back. I've been practicing on partypoker.net with mixed results. I tend to gamble more when the money isn't real, but I think watching a lot of hands play out will help me know when to put my money on the line in a real game. We'll see how it goes.

As for geocaching I haven't done much. I got June 10th off of work so I can go to the Pine Mountain Geo-Star Party... that should be fun. Lots of caches over there I haven't found.

:P

I've been a bad boy and neglecting my blog again. Not all that much to write about the last couple of days... not a lot of geocaching going on... nothing selling on eBay.

More or less I have just been sitting around eagerly awaiting Star Wars Episode 3 (May 19). Sure the last two pretty much sucked... but this one could be different. Despite it all I'll probably go see it in the theater a couple of times. Right now I am pondering asking if I can take time off of work to see it... for Episode 1 I watched the 9:15pm showing... for episode 2 I was unemployeed and could go at 11:45am... that is what time I'd like to go because it will be less crowded, but I might be pushing my luck. I have federal Jury Duty that same week... also I have asked for a Friday off in June for the 3rd Annual Pine Mountain Geo-Star Party. Some people wouldn't think twice about asking for time off, but I am rarely ever gone from work. Maybe I'll go see the midnight showing on the 18/19th I'm usually not that hard core, but this is the last movie as far as I know. Star Wars is in my blood... the first movie I ever saw in the theater was the Return of the Jedi, and I had a ton of Star Wars toys that I should have left in the box and never touched.

What to do for Mother's day

I got another FTF today.

Top this cache #3, at Union Station

Of course it was mothers day so mom came along too. Nothing tells mom you love her more than stopping for a cache on your way to lunch :)

picnic

Fun day today at Gold Hill Geocacher's Picnic. Quite a turnout but there were a few missing. I also found the nearby BDC cache, Rogue Gold. I also attempted but did not find GOLD! Where? I didn't have a good signal so I probably just missed it.

Racking them up

Another blue ribbon for me today as I was FTF at Top This Cache, At the Bell Drive Through, #2 by drdan. Boxerlovers were far away in Cave Junction, and Duck at the coast leaving really only BIGGIEET_Al to beat me and he was probably hard at work. It turned out to be another nice day for caching.

Its a sunshine life for me

Today I got to venture outside of the dark, noisy little room at the center of the bank and venture out to find Top this cache, if you can #1 by drdan. I saw the cache this morning despite it not being listed on the new caches in Oregon page. Checked it again at 11am and it had no logs... I had to meet an ATM tech at 1pm so I decided to take an early lunch which gave me a clear advantage over Kelly since I figured he'd wait till lunch as well... without uncle Duck to beat me it seemed like an easy first find. I picked up some lunch and drove out to the cache... when I saw only a red ribbon I cursed Kelly for skipping out before lunch, but then I read the name.... Boxerlovers... I knew they'd be back.
